Background

The arrangement of a joint IDC-Sweden network took form 1997, when an agreement was made with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (Näringsdepartementet) by all interacting IDC-companies to carry out the so-called UPA-commission (Swedish abbreviation that stands for Possibility analysis, Product development and Prestudies for Spin-off's)

After that, our business has gradually expanded with the establishment of several new IDC-companies, an increased number of partners, more accomplished projects and new local, regional and national commissions. The aim of the establishment is to reach a nationally comprehensive regional representation. Establishments are built on regional companies' commitment and will to co-operate in a company-organised form.
In 2006, IDC Sweden received a national commission from the government to develop their activities by systematising and taking care of experiences already made. The goal was to promote the industrial development in small and medium-sized companies. The commission has resulted in a number of structured and quality assured methods that, together with simple and efficient tools, are applicable to analyses, competence development, co-operations and business.

Today, the IDC-companies in IDC Sweden are an important operative part of the Swedish innovation system, where partners in the regional companies clarify the existing need of development, which later can be solved regionally as well as nationally.
